As Marty Neumeier in the book “Brand Gap” said — The brand is a person's gut feeling! The more people feel about your brand in the same way, the higher your brand rise up in the ladder.

With the evolution of Internet, many digital platforms and social media evolved rapidly leaving this world very accessible and open to everyone.

It transformed the way of doing business forever.

The internet had opened up new possibilities and new opportunities for businesses to build legacy across the globe. But, it’s not that easy to stand out and look different for their consumers. know why?

Because the world had become so noisy!

World from the eyes of a Business / Brand:

When we see this world from the view of a business/brand, we clearly see our customers and we feel that they are our customers or she is our customer.

But in reality, as a business you have only them as customers.

And your customers have too many options! And every option is easily accessible. It’s true.

Till now we saw this world from the eyes of a business or a brand. For some time let’s keep businesses aside and let’s view this world from the eyes of a modern consumer.

“As a modern consumer, I have very less time to consume too much information“.

I have too many options to choose from. And all look similar. The only option I have is to choose based on price.

I’m confused.

If you talk to any consumer of this 21st century, you will get the same answer as quoted above. And it is true.

Because,

With the openness and accessibility created by the internet, the social media and platforms have flooded with content, leaving the consumer confused.

The world had become too much noisy!

“There is too much information out there. so, I just go for something that grab my attention in a second”.

The only option brands left with is to differentiate & appear as unique as possible from the crowd.

The only way for the differentiation is to keep on innovating & keep on evolving without loosing their sole purpose of existence.

Now the question is,

How are you going to grab your customer’s attention by competing against all the competitive and non-competitive brands in the internet?

How do you stand out?

In this article, I would probably give you a few tips that helps you to stand out and attract your customers!

Here are the tips,

1. Be consistent with brand language — both visually & verbally

If you notice all the top 100 brands in the world, you will notice one common thing — that is, Consistency.

Every top brand communicate in the same tone and language both visually and verbally everytime they get in touch with the user.

Quick Tip: Keep all your brand elements ready at one place before crafting any message & touching your customer. Be it a verbal language or visual aesthetics.

Getting started with a brand strategy helps you with achieving that brand clarity and consistency.

2. Use highest consumed form of content — Videos, Long form articles & eBooks

As a brand marketer, you must always explore, analyse, understand & utilise the current trends.

You must always open to understand your consumer behaviour!

  • What type of content the consumers are interacting with?
  • How the modern consumer is filtering the noise?
  • What made the user attract for one product over other?

Always be open to the market & observe it carefully.

If you observe carefully, the consumer behaviour leaves clues!

3. Be more engaging with your users

People love conversations & the feeling of belonging to their favourite brands & products.

So, come up with some strategy that would engage people and in turn made them interact with your brand.

Encourage people share their success stories with your brand.

If they love it; they would definitely share it by becoming your brand ambassador.

4. Provide more value — before seeking back

It’s all about you understanding the problems of your customers and providing them with the valuable solution.

Provide value before you actually expect them to become your customer.

If you care them, they care you back.

The more the value you add to your customers the more authentic you appear in their eyes.

You actually becomes more Credible, Authentic, Legitimate & Trustworthy

5. Focus on one platform at a time & create native content

There are some 10’s of social media & other community platforms to build your brand on & to communicate with your customers.

But, every platform is not for you.

Research carefully where your customers are. Which platform suits your brand. And pick only a couple of channels to start with.

Once you have enough followers then you could move to new platforms by leveraging the followers from the current platform.

Remember, the only way you build core followers is by providing them with a lot of value.

6. Target one type of customers initially & expand to other industries / categories

This is the biggest mistake entrepreneurs or startup founders make. Being everything for everyone right from the beginning.

To be successful you must let go of many things. Try to niche down your offerings and become known for one thing.

Let people identify you as a master at one thing.

Once you get that niche branding, that niche identification, you could probably expand and scale up your brand & offerings.

But, initially just start slow and be consistent.

Conclusion

The only goal for any brand is to build the customer. Not just the customer, the right customer.

The above tips help you build such customers (true fans) & help you to transform into a global strong brand.
